The Department of Security Affairs is competent with the following:
- Regulate and control the procedures for the entry and exit of all persons into the Ministry's premises.
- Follow up on the safety procedures of the Ministry's premises and all the contents thereof and propose ways to address any shortcomings that may exist in such procedures, in coordination with the competent authorities of the State.
- Ensure the efficient functioning of civil defence arrangements inside the Ministry's building and its appurtenances.
- Prepare and issue appropriate identification cards for workers and others performing temporary work on the Ministry's premises and its appurtenances.
- Prepare security guidance and directives and circulate them to the Ministry's personnel.
- Supervise guarding of the Ministry's building and its appurtenances, in coordination with the competent authorities.
- Regulate the supervision of parking spaces as well as cars’ movement inside the Ministry's building, and issue entry permits for such cars.
- Keep a key record of all Ministry offices and take necessary security measures upon their loss.
- Develop, supervise and follow up a special security system for representative missions.
- Monitor the security situations of the States in which the representative missions' headquarters are located, in coordination with the relevant administrative units and competent authorities.
