About the Committee
The Permanent Committee for Organizing Conferences was established by Decision No. (22) of 2004 of H.E. the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. The State of Qatar has adopted a firm belief in dialogue as a means of resolving many issues and disputes between countries through good offices and mediation, while at the same time hosting dozens of Arab, regional and international conferences, meetings, summits and gatherings. These have covered politics and democratic transition, economic, trade and scientific cooperation, and dialogue between religions and civilisations in support of world peace.
The Permanent Committee for Organizing Conferences is responsible for:
- Organising and managing conferences related to the Ministry's work or assigned to the Committee, in coordination with the administrative units of ministries and other relevant government bodies, and in line with each conference's objectives and purpose.
- Proposing budgets for these conferences, in coordination with the other competent government bodies and in accordance with the higher decisions approving them.
- Establishing and developing review mechanisms to evaluate conferences, and submitting specific recommendations to improve how they are organised and managed.
- Coordinating between government bodies in the State, notifying them of proposed hosting dates, and preparing an annual plan and schedule.
- Any other conference-related tasks assigned by the competent authority in the Ministry.
