Department of Policy Planning

The Department of Policy Planning is responsible for:

• Proposing appropriate foreign policies for the State by following up on, reviewing and updating the State's strategic directions and developing a vision for them, in coordination with the administrative units, competent authorities and research and study centres.
• Coordinating the State's foreign policies through coordination meetings, strategic dialogues and joint committees, making recommendations, and taking part in related meetings.
• Examining, studying and analysing political and economic issues and international relations within the Ministry's competencies, in coordination with the relevant administrative units.
• Analysing significant local and international events, drawing the necessary conclusions, and submitting proposals on them to the Minister.
• Identifying and evaluating anticipated risks in international political and economic activities.
• Following up on the implementation of political decisions and international agreements, in coordination with the relevant entities.
• Summarising and evaluating political reports and studies received by the Minister, and giving an opinion on them.
• Establishing a database on political affairs and international relations, in coordination with the competent administrative units.
