HE Dr. Reem bint Ali Ibrahim Al-Derham
Acting Director of Human Rights Department
Her Excellency Dr. Reem bint Ali Ibrahim Al-Derham has been assigned to perform the duties of the Director of the Human Rights Department in accordance with Decision No. (2) of 2024, issued by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Since joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
- Acting Director of the Human Rights Department since July 2024 - present.
- Policy Planning Department 2017 - 2024. She developed and participated in the strategies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs while working in the Department.
- Diplomatic Institute 2011 - 2017, she held the following positions at the Institute:
- Head of the Research and Studies Department from its establishment in January 2014 until July 2017.
- Member of the editorial board of “The Diplomat” magazine issued by the Diplomatic Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2012 until July 2017.
- Preparing studies and brochures.
- Head of the electronic library since its establishment in November 2014 until 2016.
- Head of the Diplomatic Institute's (traditional) library since its establishment in 2012 until 2017.
- Head of several projects implemented at the Diplomatic Institute, such as:
- “Qatar: A Story of Development”.
- Satisfaction study of the beneficiaries of consular services.
- Job satisfaction study at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- Minister of Foreign Affairs Excellence Award 2015.
- Training and Human Resources Development Office 2006 - 2011.
Before joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Worked as a learning resource specialist in upgraded schools 2002-2006.

- Ph.D. in Gulf Studies, Qatar University, 2023. Recipient of the Research Excellence Award, Qatar University, 2023.
- Master's degree in Political Science and International Relations, Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, 2018.
