The Department of Human Rights is competent with the following:
Provide opinion and advice on referred issues relating to human rights.
Give an opinion on the draft international conventions and existing conventions relating to human rights to which the State intends to be a party, in coordination with the Department of Legal Affairs of the Ministry and the competent authorities of the State.
Participate in the preparation of reports made by the State on human rights under international conventions and submit the same to the relevant international monitoring bodies in coordination with the Department of Legal Affairs of the Ministry.
Prepare studies, research and reports related to human rights in cooperation with the competent authorities in the State.
Prepare appropriate replies to reports of international governmental and non-governmental organizations on the situations of human rights in the State, in coordination with the competent authorities and send such replies to those organizations.
Prepare replies to reports of foreign governments on the situations of human rights in the State, in coordination with the competent authorities, and communicate the same to those governments.
Update representative missions on human rights developments in the State.
Follow-up on human rights issues locally and internationally, follow-up meetings and activities held within the framework of regional, Arab and international organizations in the area of human rights and coordinate the involvement of the relevant administrative units at the Ministry and the competent authorities of the State.
Refer complaints received from abroad and concerning human rights to the competent authorities, and follow up on the same.
Prepare the required plans and proposals to benefit from the advisory services and technical assistance provided by international organizations and bodies in the field of human rights.
