The Department of Arab Affairs is competent with the following:
- Seek to promote and develop bilateral relations between the State and the Arab countries in political, economic, cultural, and technical areas and others, and follow up on the developments taking place in these countries.
- Study the reports referred from the League of Arab States General Secretariat, provide opinion thereunto, and refer them to the competent authority.
- Study and analyze reports and research referred from the diplomatic missions located in the Arab countries and take the necessary relevant measures in this regard.
- Study and follow up referred matters, topics and research related to situations, developments and relations between the State and other Arab countries.
- Coordinate with Arab League’s General Secretariat and concerned agencies of the State on the meetings of the summit, various ministerial councils, ad-hoc organizations and committees, and provide opinion on all topics referred to it concerning the promotion and development of cooperation with the Arab League.
- Participate in the meetings of the summit, ministerial councils, ad-hoc organizations and committees referred to in the previous item.
- Follow up and direct the activities of diplomatic missions in the Arab countries.
- Coordinate, follow up and develop relations with the Arab missions accredited in the State.
- Study and follow up on what is published in the Arab countries’ newspapers, that concerns the State, analyze it and provide opinion on the necessary measures or recommendations to be taken in this regard, in coordination with the Department of Media and Communication of the Ministry.
- Follow up the bulletins and other publications issued by the accredited diplomatic missions of the Arab countries in the State, and provide opinions or comments that may be required in this respect, in cooperation with the Department of Media and Communication of the Ministry.
- Follow up on the implementation of decisions issued by the Arab League and its ad-hoc organizations already approved by the State, and prepare reports on the progress of implementation of these decisions.
- Prepare, follow up and coordinate the official visits of State’s high delegations to the Arab countries, as well as the required reports thereon.
- Prepare, follow up and coordinate the visits of the Arab countries’ high official delegations to the State, as well as the required reports in this regard.
- Prepare the works of the joint committees with Arab countries participating in such committees, and follow up on the implementation of the decisions issued therefrom.
- Coordinate with the Department of Legal Affairs on the preparation of draft agreements to be concluded with Arab countries.
- Prepare necessary reports on the State's relations with Arab countries and update information stated in these reports.
- Prepare periodical reports on the activities of the diplomatic missions in the Arabic countries.
