Department of Arab Affairs

The Department of Arab Affairs is responsible for:

• Promoting and developing bilateral relations between the State and Arab countries in the political, economic, cultural, technical and other fields, and following developments in these countries.
• Studying reports received from the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, giving an opinion on them, and referring them to the competent authority.
• Studying and analysing reports and research received from the missions in Arab countries, and taking the necessary action on them.
• Studying and following up on matters, topics, reports and research referred to it concerning conditions, developments and relations between the State and other Arab countries.
• Coordinating with the League of Arab States and the relevant bodies in the State on summits, ministerial councils, specialised organisations and committees, and giving an opinion on all matters referred to it concerning the development of cooperation with the Arab League.
• Taking part in the summits, ministerial councils, specialised organisations and committees referred to in the previous item.
• Following up on and guiding the activities of the missions in Arab countries.
• Coordinating, following up on and developing relations with the diplomatic missions of Arab countries accredited to the State.
• Studying and following what Arab newspapers publish about matters of interest to the State, analysing it, and advising on any arrangements or recommendations needed, in coordination with the Ministry's Media and Communication Department.
• Following bulletins and publications issued by the diplomatic missions of Arab countries accredited to the State, and giving any necessary opinions or comments, in coordination with the Ministry's Media and Communication Department.
• Following up on the implementation of decisions issued by the Arab League and its specialised organisations that the State has approved, and preparing reports on progress in implementing them.
• Preparing, following up on and coordinating visits by the State's high-level official delegations to Arab countries, and any reports requested on them.
• Preparing, following up on and coordinating official visits to the State by high-level delegations from Arab countries, and any reports requested on them.
• Preparing for and taking part in joint committees with Arab countries, and following up on the implementation of their decisions.
• Coordinating with the Department of Legal Affairs on preparing draft agreements to be concluded with Arab countries.
• Preparing reports on the State's relations with Arab countries, and keeping the information in them up to date.
• Preparing periodic reports on the activities of the missions in Arab countries.
