The State of Qatar welcomed the US State Department's announcement of a humanitarian truce, which will come into effect on Monday morning between Azerbaijan and Armenia in the Nagorno-Karabakh region.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Qatar's hope that Azerbaijan and Armenia will abide by the truce that paves the way for resolving the dispute through dialogue and diplomatic means in a manner that preserves the interests of the two countries and two peoples.

The statement also affirmed the State of Qatar's support for the international efforts aimed at restoring security, stability and peace in the region.
