Qatar Strongly Condemns Israeli Occupation for Preventing the Release of Shireen Abu Aqleh's Body from the Hospital

Doha - Information Office - May 13

The State of Qatar expresses its strong condemnation and denunciation of the Israeli occupation polices prevention of releasing the body of Al-Jazeera correspondent Shireen Abu Aqleh from the French hospital in Jerusalem, and their suppression of the funeral procession.  The occupation authorities not only killed Shireen in cold blood while she was performing her duty, but also continued to terrorize civilians and participants in the funeral to her final resting place, reflecting the brutality of the Israeli apartheid regime, and its disregard to all human values.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stresses that Israel must immediately stop its abusive actions, out of respect for the dead and their dignity, and out of respect for the family of the deceased and the Palestinian people.

The ministry renews the State of Qatar's call on holding the Israeli occupation accountable for the crime of assassinating Shireen Abu Aqleh, and presenting the perpetrators to international justice.
