Qatar Expresses its Concern and Disappointment with the Suspension of Education for Girls' High-Schools in Afghanistan

The State of Qatar expresses its great concern and disappointment with the caretaker government of Afghanistan's decision to suspend education in girls' high-schools until further notice.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stresses that these practices will have negative implications on human rights, developments, and the economy of Afghanistan. 

As a Muslim country where women enjoy all their rights, including the right to education, Qatar calls on the caretaker government of Afghanistan to revisit its decision in line with the teachings of Islam in relation to women rights.

The ministry renews the State of Qatar's position of supporting the Afghan people's rights, led by their right to education.

The State of Qatar remains deeply committed  to working with its Afghan and international partners, to ensure that all segments of the Afghan people from all age segments to enjoy their right to education.
