Qatar's Permanent Representative in Geneva Participates in 72 Session of UNCTAD Trade and Development Board

HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva Dr. Hind Abdul Rahman Al Muftah participated in the opening of the 72nd session of the Trade and Development Board of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva.
In her speech during the session, Her Excellency indicated that she was adding her voice to the statements of the Arab Group, the Group of 77 and China, and the Asia-Pacific Group, in the context of the UNCTAD report item on assistance provided by UNCTAD to the Palestinian people, to support them in light of the deteriorating humanitarian situation and the collapse of the Palestinian economy as a result of the consequences of the war, which has intensified on the Palestinian people in recent times.
Her Excellency stressed that the State of Qatar continues its efforts to support the Palestinian people and alleviate their humanitarian suffering, reviewing the key aspects of support provided by Qatar in cooperation with countries and organizations, calling for the continuation of these efforts in response to what was stated in the Geneva Consensus Declaration and the final document issued by the UNCTAD 16 conference held in October.
Her Excellency thanked the UNCTAD Secretariat for preparing the annual report on support and assistance provided to the Palestinian people, stressing the importance of the pivotal role played by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in providing humanitarian services during and after the war, and the need to support it politically and financially without conditions.
Her Excellency the Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva affirmed that achieving sustainable peace requires a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, the New York Declaration, and the two-state solution, which guarantees the rights of the fraternal Palestinian people, especially their right to self-determination, return, and the establishment of their independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
