Geneva, September 10, 2025
The State of Qatar affirmed its deep concern over the continued deterioration of the human rights situation in Sudan and the worsening humanitarian, economic, and social suffering of the brotherly Sudanese people due to the ongoing war.
It expressed its condemnation of the crimes and grave violations committed against them, including the targeting of vital facilities and infrastructure, which requires their cessation and the accountability of their perpetrators.
This came in a statement by the State of Qatar, delivered by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the UN Office in Geneva Dr. Hind Abdulrahman Al Muftah, during her participation in the interactive dialogue on the report of the Commission of Inquiry on Sudan, within the framework of the 60th session of the Human Rights Council.
Her Excellency called on all parties to the conflict in Sudan to prioritize national interest, resume comprehensive and serious dialogue to end the fighting, restore security, and prevent the country from the risk of fragmentation.
She also urged efforts to end the current crisis and ensure unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need, in order to spare the Sudanese people further suffering. Dr. Al Muftah reaffirmed the State of Qatar's unwavering stance in support of Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and stability, as well as its solidarity with the Sudanese people in realizing their aspirations for peace, development, and prosperity, in addition to Qatar's continued efforts to provide humanitarian, relief, and development assistance to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Sudan.
Her Excellency noted that the State of Qatar has allocated over USD 75 million to support urgent needs in Sudan, and recently announced an additional USD 10 million in aid specifically to support and empower women and girls affected by the conflict, both socially and psychologically. Qatar has also extended urgent support to the health and education sectors, including ambulances, medical equipment, and vital medicines.
HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the UN Office in Geneva called for concerted regional and international efforts to end the war through peaceful means and within agreed frameworks, foremost among which is the Jeddah Declaration, while ensuring the inclusion of all parties in the political solution. She reiterated Qatar's call for the international community to intensify its humanitarian support for Sudan and reaffirmed its rejection of any form of interference in its internal affairs.
