Director of the Media and Communication Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Delivers Lecture at Georgetown University on the Characteristics of Qatar's Foreign Policy Media Discourse

Doha, May 29, 2025
Mr. Ibrahim bin Sultan Al-Hashmi, Director of the Media and Communication Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, delivered a lecture today to students enrolled in the Arabic Language course at Georgetown University in Doha. The lecture focused on the features and characteristics of the media discourse surrounding the State of Qatar’s foreign policy.
During the lecture—organized by the Diplomatic Institute—Mr. Al-Hashmi emphasized that "our discourse reflects the realism, credibility, objectivity, rationality, and dynamism that distinguish Qatar’s foreign policy." He added that "these attributes have rendered our messaging transparent and widely impactful on the global stage."
Mr. Al-Hashmi further noted that "our media discourse is closely aligned with Qatar’s active and credible role in addressing regional and international issues, and its bilateral and multilateral efforts to promote global peace and security and tackle major international challenges." He highlighted Qatar’s ongoing commitment to mediation and the peaceful resolution of conflicts, support for global humanitarian assistance in areas affected by wars, crises, and emergencies, as well as its meaningful contributions to counter-terrorism and efforts to combat climate change—all of which, he said, require a dynamic and effective media strategy to achieve the desired objectives.
