Qatar Holds Two High-level Strategic Dialogues with WHO, UNHCR

The State of Qatar held two high-level strategic dialogues with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) at the headquarters of the two organizations in Geneva.

The State of Qatar was represented at the two dialogues by HE Minister of Public Health Mansour bin Ibrahim Al Mahmoud; HE Director General of the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) Fahad Al Sulaiti; HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the UN Office in Geneva Dr. Hind Abdulrahman Al Muftah; HE Director of the International Organizations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sheikha Hanouf bint Abdulrahman Nasser Al-Thani; Director of the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Interior Brig. Abdullah Al Mohannadi; Chief Global Officer at Qatar Charity Nawaf Al Hammadi; Secretary-General of Qatar Red Crescent Society Faisal Al Emadi; and CEO of the World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH) Dr. Slim Slama. The Primary Health Care Corporation also participated virtually.

The first high-level strategic dialogue between the State of Qatar and the UNHCR was held on May 14, with the participation of a high-level delegation from UNHCR, headed by HE UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi. It addressed ways to strengthen the existing partnership between the State of Qatar and UNHCR, and reviewed future areas of cooperation in line with the priorities of both sides in the field of humanitarian aid and mechanisms for allocating and distributing it to serve refugees around the world. An agreement was also signed to support UNHCR's core resources for the period 2025-2026, with funding from the QFFD.

The high-level strategic dialogue between the State of Qatar and the WHO was held today at the organization's headquarters and attended by a high-level WHO delegation, headed by HE WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. This dialogue complements the State of Qatar's efforts in the field of health diplomacy and opens channels of cooperation and dialogue between Qatar and the WHO to achieve the country's national goals, in addition to strengthening its role within the WHO and its governance and benefiting from its expertise.

On the sidelines of the dialogue, a cooperation strategy was signed between the State of Qatar and the WHO, aiming to contribute to the State of Qatar's health strategy 2024-2030, in addition to a core contribution agreement between the QFFD and the WHO for the years 2025 and 2026 to support the implementation of its fourteenth general program of work.
