Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Meets Omani Delegation

The Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a meeting today with the Omani national team responsible for preparing reports related to the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, as part of the delegation's current visit to Qatar. The delegation is headed by Vice President of the Supreme Court of the brotherly Sultanate of Oman His Eminence Sheikh Khalid bin Rashid bin Said Al Manouri.

Representing the Qatari side at the meeting was Acting Director of the Human Rights Department Sara bint Abdullah Al Saadi along with members of the team responsible for preparing and presenting Qatar's national report to the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

The purpose of the visit was to learn from Qatar's experience in preparing and discussing its national reports before the UN Committee, to understand the national coordination mechanisms in place, and to review the best practices adopted by the State.

During the meeting, Qatar's experience in preparing and engaging with the Committee was reviewed, including the methodology for data collection, report preparation, and response to the Committee's recommendations.

The meeting also provided a valuable opportunity for both sides to engage in open and direct exchange of experiences, with the Omani delegation presenting an overview of its national experience in report preparation. The two sides also shared perspectives on common challenges and areas for improvement, in a way that strengthens Gulf cooperation in the field of human rights.
