Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al-Ansari, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participated in a discussion session as part of the activities of the Stockholm Forum on Peace and Development, under the theme “The Changing Geopolitical Landscape and the Future of Mediation: A Nordic-Gulf Perspective”.

The session, organized under the auspices of The Folke Bernadotte Academy of Sweden, addressed the profound transformations in the landscape of peace and security at the international level within the framework of the multipolar global order, highlighting the emergence of new actors in mediation such as India, China, the Gulf States, and Turkey, alongside traditional powers and international organizations.

The session addressed the growing trend towards fragmented ceasefire arrangements instead of comprehensive peace agreements, and the need to reassess the role of mediation and its tools. It also highlighted opportunities for cooperation between Nordic countries and Gulf states in exchanging expertise and enhancing adaptation to geopolitical changes, thereby contributing to the effectiveness of peace efforts.

The Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during an intervention in the session, highlighted the role undertaken by the State of Qatar as a reliable mediator in resolving conflicts and crises. He reviewed the successes of Qatari diplomacy in addressing several complex issues and its notable contribution to enhancing security and stability at both the regional and international levels.

Dr. Al-Ansari emphasized that the success of Qatari mediation in several files is based on key factors, including strategic engagement, tactical neutrality, long-term investment, commitment, and partnership.
