Qatar Warns Against Failure to Implement All Gaza Ceasefire Deal Provisions

Geneva, March 03, 2025
The State of Qatar warned that failure to implement all Gaza ceasefire deal provisions, forced transfer suggestions and the escalation of Israeli attacks in the West Bank will further endanger security and stability in the Middle East and the world.
This came in the State of Qatar's statement delivered by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the UN Office in Geneva Dr. Hind Abdulrahman Al Muftah, during her participation in the general debate on Item 2 with the High Commissioner for Human Rights, within the framework of the 58th session of the Human Rights Council.
Her Excellency stressed the State of Qatar's keenness since the beginning of the Israeli aggression, along with its partners, to exert mediation efforts that culminated in a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement, voicing hopes the implementation of this deal will streamline the start of a credible political process that will lead to a comprehensive and just peace for the Palestinian cause, realizing the right of Palestinian people to self-determination and to their independent and sovereign state on the 1967 borders.
Her Excellency stressed that the crimes of genocide and gross violations left behind by the recent Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip are unprecedented in recent history, and its disastrous effects and repercussions will continue for an unknown period.
Meanwhile, HE Al Muftah congratulated the Syrian people on the victory of their revolution, hoping that this victory would be an indication of the beginning of a new phase that meets all the aspirations of the Syrian people, and ensures the achievement of transitional justice and the accountability of all those responsible for the violations committed against them.
Her Excellency reaffirmed that the State of Qatar welcomes the new Syrian administration's moves to restructure the state, achieve stability and secure the basic needs of the Syrian people. She also welcomed the convening of the Syrian National Dialogue Conference, as an important step towards strengthening national consensus and the peaceful transfer of power through a comprehensive political process led by Syria, and moving forward in building a state of law and institutions and enhancing basic freedoms in the country.
Calling on the international community to continue supporting Syria, Her Excellency stressed the need to lift sanctions and encourage various human rights mechanisms to provide technical support that would help the Syrian transitional government fulfill its obligations to promote and protect human rights.
