The State of Qatar has expressed deep concern over the ongoing war in Sudan, noting that this war has set the country decades back and caused severe human rights violations, including the loss of thousands of Sudanese lives and properties, displacement of millions, and unprecedented destruction of infrastructure and development disruption.

This was stated by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the UN Office in Geneva Dr. Hind Abdulrahman Al Muftah, during her participation in the enhanced interactive dialogue on the High Commissioner's report on Sudan, held within the framework of the 58th session of the Human Rights Council.

Her Excellency emphasized that it is time to end this tragedy, and the only way to achieve this is through an inclusive and rational dialogue to reach an agreement that restores security and stability to Sudan, preserves its unity and sovereignty, and prevents further destruction and division.

Her Excellency reaffirmed Qatar's commitment, since the onset of the crisis and out of its humanitarian and fraternal duties, to providing all forms of support and humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people and ensure their right to life and dignity, calling on the international community to redouble its efforts to provide more support to the Sudanese people and stressing the importance of facilitating the unobstructed delivery of humanitarian aid to those affected.

Her Excellency welcomed the participation of the Sudanese Minister of Justice in the session and called for investing the cooperation of the Sudanese government with the Designated Expert and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.

She emphasized the focus on providing technical assistance to help the Sudanese government meet its obligations and strengthen its capacity to promote and protect human rights.

HE Al Muftah reiterated Qatar's steadfast position in supporting Sudan's unity and territorial integrity, and the right of its people to live in dignity, security, and stability, while firmly rejecting any external interference in Sudan’s internal affairs.
