Advisor to Prime Minister Affirms Importance of HH the Amir's UK Visit in Boosting Bilateral Relations

Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari affirmed the importance of the state visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HH Consort of HH the Amir Sheikha Jowaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al-Thani to the United Kingdom (UK), at an invitation from HM King Charles III, in boosting relations between the two countries.

Al Ansari said, during the weekly media briefing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that HH the Amir's visit embodies the depth of the strong relations between the State of Qatar and the UK, noting that the official reception ceremonies and royal hospitality for HH the Amir and HH Sheikha Jowaher by HM King Charles III and HM Queen Camilla at Buckingham Palace, confirm the State of Qatar's distinguished status in the UK.

He added that this visit represents an important milestone in strengthening strategic relations between the two countries, and confirms the great importance that the State of Qatar and the UK attach to consolidating cooperation at various levels. He noted HH the Amir's agenda includes holding meetings with senior UK officials to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two sides in various fields.

Al Ansari pointed out that the delegation accompanying HH the Amir during the visit includes HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, HE Chief of the Amiri Diwan Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, HE Minister of Finance Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs Eng. Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, HE Minister of Education and Higher Education Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater, HE Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Faisal bin Thani Al-Thani, and HE Minister of State for International Cooperation Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad.

He added that HH the Amir has made a number of visits to the UK in recent years, the last of which was in last May when His Highness attended the coronation ceremony of HM King Charles III as King of the United Kingdom. Before that visit, His Highness attended the funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth, Al Ansari said, pointing to the multiple visits between the two countries at all levels.

In another context, Al Ansari noted that HH the Amir headed the State of Qatars delegation to the meetings of the 45th regular session of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council, held Sunday in the sisterly State of Kuwait, indicating that the presidency of the Council in its next session was handed over to the State of Kuwait.
Dr. Al Ansari stressed the achievements made during the State of Qatars presidency of the previous session, primarily the launch of the GCC Regional Security Vision last March, and the first GCC-EU summit in October, in addition to holding a large number of bilateral meetings with various parties in the world.
