Qatar Participates in Ministerial Conference on the Human Dimension of the Peace Formula in Ukraine

The State of Qatar participated in the Ministerial Conference on the Human Dimension of the Peace Formula in Ukraine Begins in Canada, held in Montreal, Canada.
The Qatari delegation was led by HE Minister of State for International Cooperation Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater.
In her speech at the conference, Her Excellency highlighted the growing global crises that threaten the stability of nations and the security of individuals. Her Excellency added that the conflict in Ukraine serves as a stark reminder of the tragic consequences of escalating hostilities and the urgent need for sustainable peace.
Her Excellency emphasized that the State of Qatars participation in this conference reaffirms its support for the 10-point peace formula and its commitment to diplomatic solutions. She noted that, as a committed mediator in peace-building, the State of Qatar firmly believes in dialogue to achieve comprehensive and lasting peace, as evidenced by its ongoing role as a mediator in this and other conflicts. Her Excellency said that Qatar has publicly emphasized the importance of uniting efforts to protect civilians, provide safe corridors, and ensure freedom of movement.
Her Excellency highlighted that the world today is facing an unprecedented era of simultaneous and escalating conflicts that test the resilience of global diplomacy and the international community's will to uphold peace. She added that seeking peace in Ukraine is not only about restoring regional stability but also about preventing further global escalation. Her Excellency said that every diplomatic effort and every step toward reconciliation is a countermeasure against conflict spread and a move toward protecting all nations.
Her Excellency confirmed that the State of Qatar has mobilized necessary resources to meet the immediate needs of Ukrainians and to address the wider, destabilizing impact of the crisis on vulnerable populations worldwide. She said that, in 2023, Qatar pledged $100 million to alleviate the humanitarian situation in Ukraine and allocated $20 million to support the Grain from Ukraine program, which aims to provide vulnerable communities access to Ukrainian food exports. Additionally, Qatar offered 50 university scholarships to Ukrainian students to study in Qatar.
She added that, with regard to the humanitarian dimension and the 10-point peace formula, at the request of the parties, the State of Qatar has served as a mediator in reuniting children with their families and has hosted a series of humanitarian talks to achieve this goal. Her Excellency said that, so far, Qatar has conducted seven humanitarian missions to reunite children with their families. It has also hosted a series of humanitarian discussions with both parties. Her Excellency stressed that the state remains steadfast in its stance on the necessity of preserving all means of dignified life for civilians during wars, as war cannot be used as a pretext to infringe on civilian rights.
Her Excellency noted that Qatar, as a state focused on peace-building and reconciliation, considers this humanitarian initiative to be a fundamental element in achieving comprehensive and lasting peace in Ukraine. She emphasized that prioritizing humanitarian efforts such as family reunification pays respect to the fundamental right of individuals to stay connected with their loved ones. Her Excellency said that this principle aligns with Qatar's established values, reflecting the state's view that diplomacy must be rooted in compassion and human rights.
Her Excellency added that, while today's focus is on Ukraine, participants cannot afford overlook other humanitarian crises around the world. She noted that, in Gaza, hundreds of thousands of children, women, and civilians are being subjected to war crimes and crimes against humanity. Her Excellency said that the State of Qatar urges the international community to unite to address the dire humanitarian situation faced by the people of Palestine, Lebanon, and Sudan.
Her Excellency also emphasized the necessity of reaffirming collective commitment to advancing peace, supporting human rights, and alleviating civilian suffering everywhere. Her Excellency stressed that Qatar remains committed to these noble goals wherever they arise, and we are prepared to continue our work as a neutral mediator and humanitarian partner for all affected by this conflict.
She renewed Qatars commitment to advocating for peace, justice, and the sanctity of family everywhere, calling for efforts toward a future where no child is separated from their family due to conflict and where diplomacy is guided by principles of compassion and humanity.
