Qatar Hosts 3rd UN Meeting of Special Envoys on Afghanistan

Doha, June 30

HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi participated in the opening session of the 3rd meeting of Special Envoys on Afghanistan, which kicked off Sunday in Doha.

During the opening session of the meeting, His Excellency reiterated the State of Qatar's firm commitment toward the fraternal Afghan people. He said that Qatar is pleased and honored to continue hosting such UN meetings and would remain supportive of regional and international efforts aiming to promote security and stability in Afghanistan. He pointed out that these continuous efforts emphasize Qatar's effective participation in the Afghan issue.

His Excellency considered the 3rd Doha meeting as the best evidence of Qatar's collective support and solidarity with the Afghan people in these difficult and changing times that the region is going through. He added that Qatar is pleased to see progress in the joint agenda to formulate a unified approach in Afghanistan, stressing that the ultimate goal is to support the Afghan people and achieve peace and prosperity in Afghanistan so that it contributes positively to regional and global stability.

HE the Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that this meeting builds on the results and momentum of the previous two meetings, and in particular, reinforces the collective commitment to work directly with the caretaker government in Afghanistan, find common ground and unify efforts to support the Afghan people by alleviating their suffering and addressing the various challenges they face, and invest in these future opportunities.

His Excellency stressed that the participation of the caretaker government of Afghanistan in the meeting provides an important opportunity to conduct a meaningful dialogue regarding collective efforts to address the current challenges facing Afghanistan, out of the State of Qatar's belief in constructive dialogue and considering it an ideal means of achieving the desired international results and goals.
