Ministry of Foreign Affairs Secretary General Opens Training Course on Navigational Aids, Lighthouses

HE Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Permanent Committee of the Convention on the Law of the Sea, opened at the Diplomatic Club on Saturday, a training course on navigational aids and lighthouses, organized by the Permanent Committee of the Convention on the Law of the Sea, in cooperation with the Ministry of Transportation on May 1-2.
The course aims to train and educate those concerned with navigational safety on the basic concept of navigational aids, their types and functions in accordance with the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) maritime marking system.
The course also sheds light on a number of international organizations concerned with maritime safety, the rules observed in preventing maritime collisions, the definition of navigational marks, automatic identification systems (AIS), the long range identification and tracking (LRIT) system, and the Vessel Traffic Services (VTS), as well as technical matters that facilitate the navigation of ships in a safe environment that ensures safe and efficient movement of all ships in the maritime areas of the State of Qatar.
