Qatar Participates in OIC Emergency Ministerial Meeting

The State of Qatar took part in the Open-Ended Extraordinary Executive Committee Meeting at the level of Foreign Ministers of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to discuss the OIC position towards the US peace plan.

The delegation of the State of Qatar was led by HE Director of the International Organizations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Yousef Sultan Laram.

Delivering the statement of the State of Qatar during the meeting, HE the Director of the International Organizations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs underlined that the Palestinian cause and the protection of the Islamic sanctities remain the focal issue of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the main cause for its creation.

HE noted that the risks to the Palestinian cause hold us responsible for protecting and safeguarding it against any attack, and prompt using all means provided by international law to stop these violations, and to hold the international community to assume its responsibilities towards the brotherly Palestinian people until they obtain all their legitimate rights in accordance with the rules of international law, international legitimacy resolutions and the United Nations Charter that calls for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He added that the State of Qatar stresses the importance of uniting the Palestinian ranks to face the challenges and end the state of division in order to restore unity to the Palestinian action, and its readiness to make efforts to reach a just, comprehensive and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue.

HE reiterated the steadfast position of the State of Qatar which calls for the peace process to be based on a comprehensive, just and lasting settlement based on international legitimacy that preserves all the rights of the Palestinian people.

The State of Qatar expresses its appreciation for the endeavors to find solutions to the Palestinian issue and the Arab-Israeli conflict, as long as this is within the framework of the international legitimacy and the relevant United Nations resolutions, and renews its firm and permanent position in support of the Palestinian cause and the steadfastness of the brotherly Palestinian people, HE added.

He underlined that the State of Qatar will spare no effort in lifting the suffering that the Palestinian brothers are subjected to in the State of Palestine, and called on the international community and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to assume their legal and ethical responsibilities and avoid double standards. He stressed the need to lift the unjust siege on Gaza Strip, stop building settlements on occupied lands, and stop the malicious campaign to judaize the city of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque and obliterate its Arab and Islamic identity.

HE Director of the International Organizations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the meeting is taking place amidst major crises facing many Islamic countries, and increasing challenges that portend extremely dangerous consequences and repercussions for security and stability in the region.
