UNOOSA Chief Meets Qatar's Permanent Representative to UN Organizations in Vienna

HE Director of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) Simonetta Di Pippo has met with HE Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations organizations in Vienna Sultan bin Salmeen Al Mansouri.
During the meeting, they reviewed cooperation relations, as well as topics of common interest.
HE Ambassador Al Mansouri affirmed the State of Qatar's interest in keeping abreast of technical developments in the space sector, considering that the peaceful uses of outer space are a key driver for achieving sustainable development, and it relies heavily on the support of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs for future Qatar space programs and for the implementation of the objectives of the United Nations Program for the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space.
His Excellency noted that cooperation with the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs in the peaceful use and exploration of space and space science and technology contributes significantly to the advancement of space technology in the State of Qatar towards a more developed position.
HE Ambassador Sultan bin Salmeen Al Mansouri added that the State of Qatar is working to establish and consolidate the infrastructure of its activities in the field of outer space, through legislative tools, the preparation of national cadres specialized in space science and technology, and the integration of space science and technology in national development plans.
For her part, Her Excellency Simonetta Di Pippo expressed the Office's readiness to provide the necessary support and technical advice in order to achieve Qatar's future space programs to achieve the overall development of the State of Qatar and to advance development within the framework of the principle of regional and international cooperation in the use of outer space for peaceful purposes.
