Minister of Education Inaugurates New Cultural Attach Office in London

HE Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr. Mohammed bin Abdul Wahed Al Hammadi inaugurated the new office of the Qatari Cultural Attach in London; to serve Qatari students enrolled in British universities and educational institutions.

In remarks on the occasion, HE Dr. Al Hammadi said that the new office would contribute to meeting the needs of the Qatari students as a basic reference to resolve all the challenges they might face during their stay in the UK.

He said that the number of Ministry of Education-sponsored students in UK has reached 1000, pointing that opening the new office would facilitate the Cultural Attach job in looking after them.

Qs part of his visit to the UK, HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education met with Qatari students studying in the United Kingdom, in order to get acquainted with their conditions and discuss their problems, including administrative and educational difficulties.

During the meeting, His Excellency stressed that the wise leadership of the country attaches special importance to education and considers it the main pillar to development. He pointed out in this context to the contents of the speech of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, during the opening of the 48th session of the Shura Council, which emphasized attention to people and stipulated many educational values.

HE Dr. Al Hammadi urged the students to put ,ore efforts to complete their studies and to represent their country properly. "Students must respect the constants of their personality and Qatari identity and adhere to the religious and cultural foundations on which they grew up," he said.

He also called on them to invest their years of study and develop their personal skills in the best possible way and benefit from the culture and heritage of the United Kingdom, and to return to their homeland to participate in its construction in various fields, stressing the ministry's keenness to eliminate all the difficulties facing students and solve them by appropriate means.

The Inauguration ceremony and the students meeting were attended by HE Qatar's Ambassador to the UK Yousef bin Ali Al Khater and a lineup of officials in the embassy and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

Furthermore, HE Minister of Education and Higher Education In addition, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdul Wahed Al Hammadi held a series of meetings with a number of senior officials from Cambridge University Press, the British Council in London, and British universities that have cooperative relations with the Ministry. The meetings discussed means to boost cooperation in the field of education.
