Qatar Participates in ESCWA Preparatory Meetings in Beirut

The State of Qatar participated in the preparatory meetings for the 30th Ministerial Session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), which will kick off in Beirut Wednesday in the presence of Arab ministers and diplomats and representatives of a number of international organizations.

The State of Qatar chaired the preparatory meeting represented by HE Director of the International Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Tariq Ali Faraj Al Ansari, with the attendance of HE Qatar's Ambassador to the Lebanese Republic Ali bin Hamad Al Marri.

HE Ambassador Al Ansari stressed the importance of the Ministerial Session which will kick off Wednesday under the title "Technology for Sustainable Development in the Arab Region" with ministerial engagements from Member States.

HE Al Ansari highlighted the addition made by the Presidency of the State of Qatar to the 29th Ministerial Session of the ESCWA, which was launched at the 2016 Doha Conference and issued the Doha Declaration on Sustainable Development in the Arab Region, which Qatar took seriously during its two years of presidency as an example of achieving social, economic, environmental development and decent living for all who live on the land of Qatar.

Al Ansari also shed light on the meetings and workshops held during the presidency of Qatar and wished the Tunisian presidency success with the support of Qatar and the member states.
