Qatar Participates in International Forum on Wealth and Innovation in Accordance with Silk Belt Initiative

The State of Qatar participated in the International Forum on Wealth and Innovation in accordance with the Silk Belt Initiative in the 21st Century. The State of Qatar was represented HE Ali Ghanim Al-Hajri, Consul General of the State of Qatar in Guangzhou, People's Republic of China.

Speaking at the Forum, HE Ali Ghanem Al-Hajeri said that the Belt and Silk Road Initiative, which Qatar was the first of its signatories, as well as one of the first contributors to the Asian Infrastructure Development Bank, is one of the most important economic initiatives of the modern era.

He noted that in 2015, the first Chinese currency exchange center (RMB) in the Middle East and Africa opened in the Qatari capital of Doha, allowing access to financial exchanges based on the Chinese currency, the culmination of Chinese conviction of the strength and importance of the Qatari economy, as well as China's confidence at official level of investment in it.

"Doha has become an important city on the Silk Road, a major clearinghouse for exchange and supply, and the clearing has made Doha the most important financial center for the RMB in the Middle East and Africa," Al Hajri added.

He said that in the last 10 years, Qatar's economy has been the fastest growing in the world and Qatar's per capita income is the highest in the world.

Al-Hajri said that during the period from June 5, 2017 to date, the State of Qatar received more than 63 delegations of businessmen and major investment companies.

He pointed out that the State of Qatar is the most important station providing countries on the Silk Road with clean energy, and is the most ready in terms of infrastructure and the environment attractive to investment.

Al-Hajeri stressed that the great successes of the Chinese partnerships in Qatar are a unique example of successful and intelligent partnerships on the Silk Road. He referred to the excellence of Chinese companies and their high ability to implement the most important projects of the 2022 World Cup in Doha.

"This great and growing development of Chinese -Qatari relations in various fields demonstrates confidence in the successful Qatari economy," he said.
