Minister of State for Foreign Affairs: Qatar succeeded in resolving disputes through development of "mediation diplomacy" Method

HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi affirmed the success of the State of Qatar in resolving many national and regional conflicts and disputes through the development of the "mediation diplomacy" between the parties.
HE Minister of State said at the EU-Arab World Summit "Towards a Solid Alliance", which began Thursday in Athens and concludes Friday, that working to resolve disputes and conflicts at its home country, achieves stability and thus reduces the flow of refugees.

His Excellency added that this conference is being held while the world is facing many regional and international challenges, which necessitates us to redouble efforts to improve the framework and level of cooperation between the Arab countries and the European Union (EU).
HE Al Muraikhi said that the State of Qatar appreciates the continuity of the organization of the "EU-Arab World Summit" as well as the choice of its motto "Towards a Solid Alliance" and the focus of its deliberations, as this slogan has important implications in view of the common challenges facing the world. His Excellency noted that the world today is no longer as it was yesterday, which necessitates the need to build strong and effective alliances, because the effects and consequences of local issues in any country or continent of the world affect everyone as in Europe and the Arab world.
HE Minister of State stressed that the challenges faced by the Arab region, whether on the Palestinian issue or the Syrian crisis or the interference of regional and international powers or instability in Yemen, Libya, Iraq and the counter terrorism, are no longer confined in their geographic space or in their cultural orbit but it has become a transboundary, a cross-border and cross-cultural barriers, which confirms the reality of the common destiny of humanity as a whole.
His Excellency pointed out that building a strong alliance between the Arab world and Europe is not only a moral responsibility towards the peoples of the two regions, but a practical commitment and humanitarian duty towards the world peacemaker and the collective building of the future between the Arab world and Europe. He added that this alliance must be based on the human values that unite us, and its establishment should starts now, because the collective building of the future, which is reflected in the slogan of this conference "Towards a Solid Alliance", is a duty towards our common destiny, a noble duty and a human right, so both parties need to create new patterns of cooperation between the Arab world and Europe, as well as building cross-cultural and geographical identities, to move the concept of identity and belonging from narrow geographic and cultural frameworks to human identities.
HE State Minister for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi said that the State of Qatar believes the strength of the historic ties between the Arab World and Europe helped leave a grand heritage and encouraged the people to communicate, something that builds a strong foundation for enhancing ties even further.
His Excellency added that building a strong alliance between the Arab world and Europe was an interest of Qatar and a priority of its foreign policy. As a result, His Excellency said, Qatar welcomes any move that can advance ties between the two sides for it would be an enhancement to international cooperation and a meaningful contribution towards establishing global peace.
In its bid to achieving that peace, Qatar prioritized resolving all crises peacefully and through mediation.
He viewed that resolving crises at their home countries help promote stability by limiting the displacement of refugees. His Excellency added that the State of Qatar was successful in developing a diplomatic mediation style that brought together many conflicting sides and helped them undertake developmental initiatives, under the umbrella of the United Nations.
His Excellency said that the absence of security in many parts of the globe today is the biggest challenge facing the world today. His Excellency stressed that development and security were two sides of the same coin, which means that the international community must enhance its cooperation and establish real partnerships that help face those challenges.
He went on to say that building partnerships is the way towards growth and development. He added that establishing those relationships requires effective mechanisms, legislation, and laws that guarantee the investments and rights of all parties involved. The legislations should also focus on combatting corruption and promote transparency.
