Al-Diplomacy Magazine Covers the Political Movement to Face the Siege

Doha/ Information Office/ 04 October 2017/ The Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued its 36th edition of its seasonal publication, Al-Diplomacy.

The issue's cover story discusses the diplomatic and political movement the State of Qatar has witnessed through facing the siege imposed by three Gulf countries and Egypt by blocking all land and sea ports as well as air routes.

The publication included the first speech by HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani since the beginning of the Gulf crisis, that was addressed to the people and the Arab and Islamic nation and shaped the future of Qatar economically, politically and socially. The issue also included the directives of HH the Emir when he chaired the cabinet meeting and established a wise approach to face crises, in which Qatar in June 2017 differs from before, with HH the Emir stressing on continuing to invest in the positive work spirit and cohesion.

The issue also included the active trips of HE Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani in the east and west to present Qatar's vision to solve the Gulf crisis using negotiation and dialogue and refusing dictation. It also discussed the meetings held with foreign ministers and officials from around the world and the organization of press conferences and bilateral meetings.

The magazine devoted a section for the Silk Road where the Arab countries are considered a natural and important partner with China. It also included the Gulf region's importance in the Belt and Road Initiative as well as the Qatari- Arab relations with China especially economically and culturally. It discussed the development phases of the relations since the establishment of the diplomatic relations between both sides till the China-Arab Cooperation Forum and the prosperity of the relations to a strategic level, ending with the Belt and Road Initiative phase.

The section also included the role of Silk Road to spread peace, strengthen cooperation, openness and tolerance between the countries bordering it, it also discussed the Maritime Silk Road which is considered an economic road that benefits all, and its role to engrave the values of the old road and regional and international cooperation.

In the "Our Ambassadors" section of the publication, it included an interview with HE Qatar's Ambassador to India Mohammed bin Khater Al Khater who spoke about the strategic partnership and bilateral relations between both countries. In addition to their similar and harmonious stances in combating terrorism and achieving world peace and other international issues.

In the "Al-Diplomacy Guest" section, an interview was published with HE Republic of Turkey Ambassador to Qatar Fikret Ozer, where he spoke about his country's special political, military, economic and trade relations with the State of Qatar.

"From the Diplomatic History" section included an interview with Ex-International Peace Mediator Lakhdar Brahimi where he spoke about his role to find solutions for complication issues.

The publication also included articles from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Legal Consultant Dr. Abdel Moneim al-Qadi which discusses the international instruments and legal culture to make chemical weapons internationally banned and their use is considered a war crime, taking Syria as a model.

In the "Development and Economy" section it reviewed the "Human Development Report 2016:Hopes and Challenges" issued by the United Nations Development Program.

The issue was concluded by referring to the latest publications of the Diplomatic Institute titled "Readings in Diplomacy" and a review on the book "Why Leaders Lie" published by Oxford University Press.

All the topics in the publication are translated to English since it is distributed in all Qatari embassies abroad, on its websites and in foreign embassies found in Doha.
