HE High Representative of UNAOC Stresses Importance of Religious Leaders to Peace

Madrid/Information Office/16 November 2016/ HE High Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) Nassir Abdulaziz Al Nasser stressed today that religion does not advocate for violence but call for compassion, mercy, forgiveness, truthfulness, humility and love.
Al Nasser was giving a speech in a summit of religious leaders for peace in the Middle East that took place in Spanish city Alicante. He said that the participating religious leaders agreed that the Palestinian-Israeli struggle was on a political level, not a religious one. The High Representative of the UNAOC said that a joint statement at the conclusion of the summit stressed on the importance of dialogue to establishing peace between Palestinians and Israelis.
His Excellency also held talks with Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs Alfonso Dastis in Madrid to discuss means of cooperation with the Spanish government, specially since the latter supports UNAOC financially and politically.
