Qatar Attaches Great Importance to Cooperation with IAEA

Vienna/Information Office/14 November 2016/ The State of Qatar attaches great importance to cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as well as with its technical program section.
The State of Qatar also appreciates the IAEA's contribution in the projects implemented over the previous years, as these projects increased Qatar's capabilities in the development of food laboratories and enhanced its laboratories in the fields of nuclear analysis, medical treatment and radiation doses as well as helped in the development of the national framework for the organization of radiation safety to increase preparedness capabilities and emergency response.
This came in a statement delivered by HE Qatar's Ambassador to Austria and its Permanent Representative to the International Organizations in Vienna Ali Khalfan Al Mansouri before the IAEA's Technical Cooperation Committee's meetings currently being held in Vienna from 14-17 November.
The State of Qatar is looking for closer and wider cooperation with the IAEA, within the technical cooperation program, HE the Ambassador said, adding Qatar is currently preparing projects a matter which makes this cooperation one of the essential elements in achieving the objectives of the national development plan of the Qatar National Vision 2030 in the development of infrastructure and human resources in the uses of nuclear technology, especially in energy, health, agriculture, industry, water management, environment and nuclear safety and radiation fields.
Al Mansouri also noted that the State of Qatar believes that technical cooperation program is a shared responsibility of all and achieves common goals of all humanity, calling on all Member States to meet their financial obligations in full under this program, while reiterating that the State of Qatar is committed to paying its obligations in full and on time.
