Qatar's Embassy in Canada Hosts Roundtable on Challenges Facing Humanitarian Aid in Middle East
Ottawa/Information Office/03 October 2016/ The Embassy of the State of Qatar in Canada hosted a roundtable on the challenges facing humanitarian aid in the Middle East. The roundtable's participants praised the Qatari initiative to help Syrian refugees in Canada announced recently by Qatar Fund for Development, and also expressed their appreciation to the State of Qatar for holding such events, which significantly contribute to the exchange of information and experiences between the parties involved in providing humanitarian aid in Yemen and Syria. They stressed the need to hold subsequent meetings to follow up the latest developments. The GCC side made a presentation on humanitarian assistance and services provided to refugees suffering from the consequences of wars in the region, particularly in Syria and Yemen, and the challenges facing the humanitarian relief organizations. It also discussed ways to build a partnership with the Canadian side. The meeting comes within the framework of the GCC joint cooperation, and it is an implementation of the mechanisms of the memorandum of understanding signed between Canada and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
