Qatar Development Fund Allocates QR10 Million for Aleppo

Doha/Information Office/ 16 May 2016/ Qatar Development Fund (QDF) on Sunday announced the CAD 1 million QatarLink Scholarship program aimed at supporting Syrian refugees in Canada. QDF said in a statement today the initiative comes as part of the State of Qatar's pledge made during the Syria Donors Conference held in London in February to provide $ 100 million for Syrian refugees. The State of Qatar has worked in the past years to support the Syrian refugees during their ordeal, said the statement, explaining that the QatarLink program was developed to provide a safe and stable life for Syrian refugees and their families through an intensive academic program, which would help them to earn new languages, practical skills and field training. In this context, QDF General Director Khalifa bin Jassim al-Kuwari said the Qatar Development Fund has established the QatarLink Scholarship program to help Syrian refugees residing in Canada to earn necessary skills that will pave the way for a secure and stable future for them and their families. The academic and training activities to be provided by the program will play a key role in human development process for the Syrian refugees, he went on saying. For his part, Qatar's Ambassador to Canada, HE Fahad Mohammed Kafood, said through QatarLink program, QDF gives hope for Syrian refugees, expressing keenness that this initiative will receive support and encouragement from all parties in order to support Syrian refugees to start a new life.
