Santo Domenico/Information Office/ 28 December 2015/ The Embassy of the State of Qatar in the Dominican Republic has celebrated Qatar National Day which falls on the 18th of December every year to commemorate the anniversary of the founder of the State Sheikh Mohamed bin Jassim bin Thani. On the occasion HE the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Dominican Republic Khamis Butti Al Sahouti hosted a reception attended by a large number of dignitaries, the Dominican's senior officials, heads of diplomatic missions and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to the Dominican, representatives of some political parties, social and cultural movements as well as a large number of businessmen, academics and journalists. In a statement he gave at the reception, Al Sahouti said the foreign policy of the State of Qatar focuses on the principles of peaceful coexistence and mutual respect and effective participation in the international community in order to maintain security, peace, respect of human rights and resolution of conflicts through peaceful means, pointing to the openness of the State of Qatar towards attracting new prospects in the field of international cooperation which will contribute to making its political vision broader and more comprehensive. He said the efforts of the State of Qatar to achieve the alliance of civilizations through the dialogue of civilizations which emanates of its deep awareness of its importance of extending bridges of friendship among peoples and its role in resolving many disputes that could arise between the parties that belong to different civilizations and religions, let alone its contribution to correcting the stereotypic visions prevailing among peoples and civilizations worldwide. Concluding, HE the Ambassador praised the principle of the ongoing enhancement which characterizes the Qatari-Dominican relations which resulted in the signing of many agreements of mutual cooperation between the two countries in many areas. For her part, Deputy Minister of Consultative Affairs at the Dominican's Foreign Ministry said the State of Qatar has proved during a short period of time its abilities to achieve the welfare of its citizens, hoping that relations of cooperation between the two countries would be enhanced in all areas that would contribute to the growth of their economies.
