GCC States, US Follow up Implementation of Camp David Summit

Riyadh /Information Office/ 09 June 2015/ An official talks session was held here today between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States and the US to follow up on the implementation of the GCC-US Summit which was held in Camp David,US on 13-14 May. The GCC side was headed by HE Qatari Foreign Minister's Assistant for Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Rumaihi, with the participation of the GCC Secretary General Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani and senior officials from the ministries of foreign Affairs, defense and interior of the GCC countries. The US Delegation comprised senior officials from the Department of State, Department of Defence, Military and Security Cooperation Agency and the US Central Command, headed by the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Arabian Peninsula Affairs Susan L. Ziadeh. HE Foreign Minister's Assistant for Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Rumaihi emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between the GCC and the US, and the development of an executive program that can protect the strategic interests of both sides. The joint statement issued at the end of the historic Camp David summit expressed the commitment of both sides to establish a strategic partnership in all fields, including defense and security, he said. GCC Secretary-General Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani stated that the two sides discussed ways to strengthen the strategic partnership between the GCC and the US in the light of US-Gulf Summit outcomes. The discussed bilateral cooperation in all fields, including political, military and security affairs, and ways of developing and strengthening them to confirm the strength of cooperation and friendship relations between the two sides. he added.
