Minister of Foreign Affairs' Special Envoy for Climate Change and Sustainability Participates in Africa, Middle East SAFE Initiative

HE Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Climate Change and Sustainability Ambassador Bader bin Omar Al Dafa participated in the launch event of the Africa and Middle East SAFE Initiative, launched by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) to scale-up agriculture and food systems for economic development in Africa and the Middle East.
The event is held on the sidelines of the 28th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP28) in Dubai, the sisterly United Arab Emirates.
In a speech, His Excellency stressed the importance of having a multitude of integrated international initiatives regarding food security, climate change, and sustainability.
In this regard, he recalled HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's launch of the initiative to establish the Global Dryland Alliance (GDA), based in Doha, which is concerned with helping countries with drylands to set preventive policies against the risk of desertification and drought, provide support for sustainability projects, and intervene in the event of a food crisis.
His Excellency noted the importance of cooperation and partnership between GDA and GGGI in the fields of research, technology, innovative financing, and the implementation of joint programs in member states.
