Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Participates in Meeting of Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee with China's Foreign Minister

HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani took part in the meeting of the members of the Ministerial committee assigned by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit with HE Foreign Minister of the People's Republic of China Wang Yi, held Wednesday in New York.
Also participating in the meeting were HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Dr. Ayman Safadi, HH Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah Al Saud, HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt Sameh Shukri, HE Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine Riyad Al-Maliki, HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Hakan Fidan, HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Retno Marsudi, and HE Secretary-General of the League of Arab States Ahmed Aboul Gheit. The meeting was also attended by HE Foreign Minister of Malaysia Zambry Abdul Kadir and HE Minister of State of the United Arab Emirates, representative of the Arab group in the UN Security Council Khalifa bin Shaheen Al Marar.
The meeting focused on the developments in the situation in the Gaza Strip, the results of the humanitarian pause -particularly the release of a number of prisoners and hostages- and the efforts for an reaching immediate ceasefire, in addition to the importance of permanent members of the UN Security Council fulfilling their responsibilities to protect civilians and ensure adherence to international law and international humanitarian law.
The members of the Ministerial Committee stressed the importance of the international community taking all effective measures to ensure the securing of relief corridors for the delivery of urgent humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
They renewed the call for returning to the path of just, lasting and comprehensive peace, by implementing international resolutions related to the two-state solution, and enabling the Palestinian people to obtain their legitimate rights to establish an independent and sovereign Palestinian state on the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The committee members also renewed their call on the international community to fulfill its responsibility to reject all forms of selectivity in applying international legal and moral standards, and to protect the Palestinian people from crimes committed by the occupation forces and settler militias against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
