The State of Qatar Highlights Importance of Opening UN House in Doha in Enhancing Multilateral International Cooperation

The State of Qatar affirmed that the recent opening of the UN House in Doha, which includes a number of offices and agencies of the United Nations, is an important step to enhance international multilateral cooperation by implementing programs concerned with technical cooperation and capacity-building in many fields.

This came in the statement of the State of Qatar read out by Second Secretary at the Department of Human Rights at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during the enhanced interactive dialogue on the report of the High Commissioner on technical cooperation and capacity building, before the Human Rights Council's 53rd session.

Al Mansoori stressed the importance of giving all human rights, whether political, civil, economic, social and cultural, and the right to development, the same level of interest when it comes to providing technical assistance and capacity-building, as part of having an objective dialogue and constructive cooperation, which takes into account consideration the requests and priorities of states.

He drew attention to the interest of the State of Qatar and its keenness to enhance its cooperation with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and support it to fulfill its mandate with regard to providing technical assistance and capacity building, noting the continuation of its contributions to the Office of the High Commissioner for the implementation of a number of programs, in the context of the work of the United Nations Training and Documentation Center in Doha.
