Qatar Participates in Ministerial Meeting on Sudan

The State of Qatar took part in the urgent special ministerial meeting on the situation in Sudan, organized by the African Union's Commission.

HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi represented Qatar in the meeting which was held via video.

Addressing the meeting, His Excellency said that the State of Qatar deeply regrets the situation in the Republic of The Sudan, and is following with concern the current developments. He renewed the State of Qatar's call to all parties for a quick and immediate ceasefire, and to stop the escalation that is causing irreparable losses to the brotherly Sudanese people.

HE the Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed the State of Qatar's keenness to support all international efforts, including those of the African Union Commission during today's meeting, and everything that would accelerate the ceasefire process and resolve the crisis in Sudan.

His Excellency stressed that the current crisis is Sudanese-Sudanese, and its solution in a sustainable manner will only be with Sudanese will, adding that the State of Qatar would continue to support the efforts of the international community by providing aid and proposing appropriate diplomatic solutions.

Concluding his speech, the Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Qatar's firm position regarding the unity of Sudan and its support for its brotherly people. He also called on the parties to exercise maximum restraint, resort to reason, give priority to the public interest, and spare civilians the consequences of fighting.

He also renewed the State of Qatar's appreciation for the African Union Commission's efforts to resolve the crisis.
