Qatar Participates in Meeting of Senior Officials on Libya in Washington

The State of Qatar participated in the meeting of senior officials on Libya, which started today in Washington, DC.
The State of Qatar was represented at the meeting by HE Assistant Foreign Minister for Regional Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi.
During the meeting, they discussed the security, political and economic challenges and repercussions facing Libya, and how to find the most effective ways to reach the parliamentary and presidential elections.
In his speech during the meeting, HE Assistant Foreign Minister for Regional Affairs stressed that the State of Qatar will spare no effort in constructive participation with the parties of the international community in seeking to resolve the differences between the Libyan parties through peaceful means and conciliation of opinions, in order to reach a permanent and sustainable solution and to see a safe and stable Libya.
His Excellency pointed out that the State of Qatar's firm position is full support for the Libyan political track and relevant Security Council resolutions, and efforts aimed at reaching a national consensus that leads to holding presidential and parliamentary elections and achieves the national interest, stability, peace and the aspirations of its brotherly people for development and prosperity.
His Excellency affirmed the State of Qatar's permanent support for the endeavors of the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in Libya Abdoulaye Bathily, and his efforts to achieve tangible results to resolve the Libyan crisis.
