Official Spokesperson for Ministry of Foreign Affairs Meets British Parliament Members

The Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Majed bin Mohammad Al-Ansari, met today in London with a number of members of the British Parliament from both the Houses of Lords and the Commons, during his official visit to the United Kingdom.
The meetings included HE Member of the House of Commons, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary British-Qatar Group Alun Cairns, HE Member of the House of Commons Gavin Williamson, HE Edward Lister and HE James Wharton, members of the House of Lords.
During the meetings, they reviewed bilateral cooperation relations and ways to develop parliamentary relations between the two countries.
The meetings also discussed the continuous violations committed by the Israeli occupation in the occupied Palestinian territories, the latest developments in the situation in Afghanistan, the efforts of the State of Qatar aimed at converging views between Iran and Western countries, the crisis between Russia and Ukraine, in addition to the positions of the State of Qatar on various regional and international issues of common concern.
The meetings also dealt with Qatar's latest preparations for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
On the Afghan issue, Dr. Al-Ansari stressed Qatar's firm and supportive stance for the Afghan people and their right to live with dignity and achieve their aspirations, stressing the continuation of Qatar's efforts to support and facilitate efforts to reach a comprehensive political consensus that achieves security and stability in Afghanistan and the region.
On the crisis between Russia and Ukraine, Dr. Al-Ansari renewed the call of the State of Qatar to resolve the issue through dialogue and diplomatic methods, to settle international disputes by peaceful means, and not to take decisions that would lead to further escalation.
Regarding the upcoming World Cup, Dr. Al-Ansari stressed that the State of Qatar is seeking to organize an exceptional edition of the tournament, as it is the first of its kind hosted in the region, and Qatar is looking forward to a wide global participation in the historical event, through which everyone who participate in the tournament will witness the richness and tolerance of the Arab culture and the keenness to build bridges of communication with different cultures and peoples.
