Qatar Participates in 154th Arab League Council Session

The State of Qatar on Monday participated in the 154th Ordinary Session of the Arab League Council at the Permanent Delegates level at the headquarters of the League's General Secretariat, chaired by the State of Palestine succeeding the Sultanate of Oman. The meeting prepares for the Council's meetings at the level of foreign ministers on Wednesday.
The State of Qatar's delegation was headed by HE the Permanent Representative of Qatar to the Arab League Ambassador Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz Al Sahlawi.
Permanent delegates will discuss items on the Council's agenda and prepare draft decisions related to them to submit them to the meeting of foreign ministers for discussion and approval.
The draft agenda includes a number of political, security, social, health and administrative items of interest to joint Arab action, foremost of which are developments in the Palestinian cause and developments in the situation in Libya, Syria and Yemen.
In addition, the agenda includes social and health issues, including Arab cooperation in the field of confronting the Covid-19 pandemic, and the Arab strategy for prevention and response to combat all forms of violence in refugee and displacement status, especially sexual violence against women and girls, in addition to an Arab study on violence against the elderly.
