​ Qatar Provides Financial Support for UNCCT

New York/Information Office/ 08 February 02017/The State of Qatar has provided financial support worth US $ 250,000 for the United Nations Centre for Counter-Terrorism (UNCCT).

This came during a meeting held by the Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations HE Ambassador Sheikha Alia Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani with the Director of the UN Counter-Terrorism Centre (UNCCT) Dr. Jehangir Khan.
HE Sheikha Alia during the meeting affirmed that the support of the international efforts in the fight against terrorism is a priority for the State of Qatar, saying, "The support of center is in line with Qatar's commitment in the fight against terrorism.
For his part, Dr. Khan welcomed this support, and expressed his appreciation for the continued support by the State of Qatar in the fight against terrorism and its cooperation with the United Nations, adding that "the support of Member States would strengthen the United Nations capacity in its efforts to deal with the most serious challenges to international peace and security." .
The UN Counter-Terrorism Centre (UNCCT) was established in 2011 and aims to strengthen the capacity of Member States to implement the United Nations International Counter-Terrorism Strategy. It also works with the Qatari Silatech organization to implement and facilitate skills programs of youth and provide job opportunities for them.
