Doha/Information Office/01 February 2017/A senior official at the Foreign Ministry Media Office denied news reports claiming that Qatari special forces had participated in protecting Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during the failed coup attempt last July.

Speaking to QNA, the official said that allegations about a secret document issued by the Qatari embassy in Ankara on dispatching Emiri special forces in the early hours of the coup attempt at the request of the Turkish president to save his life are baseless and completely untrue.
