Qatar welcomes transitional steps aimed at enhancing national consensus in Syria

The State of Qatar welcomes the steps aimed at restructuring the sisterly Syrian state and enhancing consensus and unity among all Syrian parties, paving the way for consolidating civil peace, security, stability and building a state of law, institutions, development and prosperity.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stresses that the current critical stage in Syria requires the state to monopolize weapons in a single army that represents all components without exclusion, in order to preserve the country’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, and in a way that paves the way for a peaceful transfer of power through a comprehensive political process.
The Ministry reiterates the State of Qatar's full support for Syria in all fields, and its effective contribution to all regional and international efforts aimed at achieving the aspirations of the Syrian people for freedom, development, prosperity and decent living.
