Qatar welcomes the British Prime Minister's announcement of his country's intention to recognize the State of Palestine

The State of Qatar welcomes the announcement by His Excellency Sir Keir Starmer, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, regarding his country's intention to recognize the State of Palestine and the UK support of the two-state solution. Qatar considers this an important development that aligns with international legitimacy and relevant Security Council resolutions, contributing to the enhancement of opportunities for achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the region.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirms that this announcement is consistent with the consensus of the countries participating in the International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Palestinian Question and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution on a Road Map aimed at increasing recognition of the Palestinian State.
At the same time, this announcement represents significant support for the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, enabling them to exercise their right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
