Qatar Welcomes Belgium's Announcement of Intent to Recognize the State of Palestine

The State of Qatar welcomes the Kingdom of Belgium’s announcement of its intention to recognize the sisterly State of Palestine during the United Nations General Assembly this month.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirms that this step represents strong support for the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people and reflects the international community’s consensus on the need to end the Israeli occupation, enabling the Palestinian people to exercise self-determination and establish their independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The Ministry considers this announcement a positive development that aligns with international legitimacy and relevant Security Council resolutions, and contributes to advancing the prospects for a just and comprehensive peace in the region.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterates the State of Qatar’s call on all states that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to take similar steps that demonstrate a commitment to international law and support the historical and inalienable rights of the brotherly Palestinian people on their land.
