Qatar Strongly Condemns Houthi Remarks Accusing Saudi Arabia of Besieging Yemenis and Imposing Maritime Embargo

The State of Qatar strongly condemns and denounces remarks by the Houthi military spokesman accusing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia of imposing a blockade on the Yemeni people and enforcing a maritime embargo.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls on the international community to uphold its responsibilities by implementing the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216 on Yemen and Resolution 2722 on freedom of navigation and navigational rights in the Red Sea. The Ministry stresses that freedom of navigation through international waterways is a fundamental principle of international law and of the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterates the State of Qatar's full solidarity with the fraternal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures taken by the Kingdom to safeguard its sovereignty and security. It also affirms that Saudi Arabia's security is an integral part of the security of Qatar and the other Gulf Cooperation Council member states.
