Qatar Condemns in the Strongest Terms the Targeting by the Houthi Group of a Power Distribution Station Serving the Prophet’s Mosque

The State of Qatar condemns in the strongest terms the targeting by the Houthi group of a power distribution station in Madinah in the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which serves the Prophet’s Mosque and civilian objects, and considers it a serious attack on the sanctity of Islamic holy sites, a clear provocation to the sentiments of Muslims, an unacceptable disregard for the lives of civilians, a blatant violation of the sovereignty of Saudi Arabia and a flagrant breach of the rules of international law.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stresses the State of Qatar’s categorical rejection of attacks against holy sites, civilian objects and civilians, and affirms the need for an immediate cessation of these irresponsible acts.
The Ministry also renews the State of Qatar’s full solidarity with the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its support for all legitimate measures it takes to preserve its sovereignty, security, territorial integrity and interests, and affirms that the security of Saudi Arabia is an integral part of the security of Qatar and the collective security system of the States members of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
