Joint Political Statement between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Peru

In light of the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Peru, His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Peru, Ambassador Elmer Schialer, in Doha, on April 27th 2025, as part of an official visit.
In this context, the two sides exchanged views on a range of regional and international matters of mutual interest, emphasizing the importance of advancing the pacification process towards a lasting peace in the Middle East.
Both representatives underscored the State of Qatar’s pivotal role as a key mediator in promoting peace across regional and international conflicts, as demonstrated by its significant contributions in various conflict zones, most notably its instrumental role in facilitating the recent ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, concluded on January 19th, 2025.
During the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the significant understanding achieved through the Third Political Consultation Mechanism held in Lima, in January 15th, 2025, as well as in previous meetings under this framework, which have contributed to strengthening bilateral dialogue.
The two sides discussed a wide range of topics of mutual interest, including economic and trade relations, political and consular affairs, youth and sports cooperation, cultural exchange, healthcare, tourism development, and food security. They also explored ways to advance development projects and identified new areas of cooperation aimed at further deepening relations between the two countries.
In conclusion, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Peru, Ambassador Elmer Schialer, expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani for the generous hospitality, warm welcome, and the fruitful discussions that further enhanced relations between the two nations.
Finally, both sides expressed their satisfaction with the tangible results achieved during the visit and reaffirmed their commitment to continue working together to advance cooperation, serving the interests of both countries.
