Firstly, I would like to extend a warm welcome to my esteemed brother, His Excellency Dr. Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the sisterly Republic of Türkiye.

Our meeting today takes place amidst significant and strategic developments in the region, addressing several key issues of mutual concern between the State of Qatar and Türkiye. We discussed the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories and in sisterly Syria, with these talks serving as a continuation of the ongoing dialogue and coordination between our two countries.

Regarding the situation in Syria...

• We welcomed the steps aimed at restructuring the sisterly Syrian state and promoting consensus and unity among all Syrian parties, thus paving the way for the consolidation of civil peace and security, stability, and the establishment of a state based on law, institutions, development, and prosperity.

   

   

   

• We emphasized the urgent importance of lifting the sanctions imposed on Syria, as they have negative effects in exacerbating the humanitarian crisis and hindering the provision of essential needs.

   

   

• I also reviewed with HE the Minister the various efforts made by the State of Qatar, such as the ongoing technical support for the operation of Damascus Airport, the agreement to provide assistance to the electricity sector, and the ongoing air bridge.

   

  We highly value our shared stance with our Turkish brothers and our ongoing support for the Syrian people and their struggle for freedom, dignity, and justice. We also appreciate the continuous coordination in efforts and initiatives carried out over the past years aimed at restoring peace and stability to the region.

   

  We agreed on the necessity of supporting Syria during this critical phase and its new leadership in building state institutions and establishing the foundations of stability, ensuring a safe passage through this critical stage, particularly on the humanitarian and economic fronts.

   

   

  Part of our discussions today focused on the ceasefire deal for the Gaza Strip and the developments surrounding it. We discussed the importance of solidifying the ceasefire and continuing with the exchange of hostages and prisoners.

   

   

   

  In this regard, I cannot help but value the Turkish role in supporting the mediation efforts during the past period, which led to this deal. We emphasize the importance of all parties adhering to the implementation of the deal in full, and beginning, as outlined in the deal, negotiations on the second phase. We call on our partners in the international community to continue exerting pressure to ensure the success of these negotiations, and we stress the need to prevent any party from obstructing it, so that this crucial window, which is indispensable, is not closed.

   

   

  We will continue to work in cooperation with partners in the Arab Republic of Egypt and the United States of America to ensure the full implementation of this deal.

   

   

  We look forward to intensifying regional and international efforts to provide humanitarian aid and to support the United Nations in facilitating the entry and delivery of aid to all areas of the Gaza Strip for our brothers in Gaza.

   

  We emphasize the importance of not obstructing the entry of any kind of aid and thwarting all attempts aimed at making the Gaza Strip uninhabitable for the Palestinian people.

   

   

• We stress the importance of having a clear mechanism from the international community and United Nations institutions to ensure that this aid reaches its rightful recipients, and that it flows smoothly without being obstructed by Israeli forces.

   

• Since the early hours of the ceasefire, the State of Qatar has ensured the continuous flow of humanitarian aid to our brothers in Gaza. This is our duty, but we also seek greater cooperation and a collective effort in the international community to deliver the aid that the people of Gaza truly need.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation for the Turkish role and support for our brothers in Gaza, whether in terms of humanitarian aid, continuous support, or assistance in treating the wounded and sick from the Gaza Strip.

Today, we discussed the attacks and violations carried out by the Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank. We emphasize the importance of the international community fulfilling its responsibilities. Ultimately, this crisis will only be resolved by ending the occupation and establishing the Palestinian state within the borders of June 4, 1967, in accordance with international resolutions.

On the bilateral relations front, there were discussions between me and HE the Minister regarding the strong strategic ties that bind our two brotherly countries. We emphasized the importance of following up on all the outcomes of the Supreme Strategic Committee, which was held under the esteemed presidency of His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar, may God protect him, and His Excellency President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in November of last year. During this meeting, the leaders underscored the significant achievements made in the relations between the two countries and the need to further elevate them to serve the interests of both peoples and the region in general.
